Dominated by the glorious Matterhorn, Zermatt is the very definition of a dream ski resort. Completely car-free and filled with attractive sleighs and taxis instead, visitors instantly recognise the difference that is Zermatt. It is one of the liveliest, prettiest and most sophisticated resorts, and attracts the rich and famous from all over Europe. They are irresistibly drawn to the resort’s astonishing range of skiing, spread over three distinct large areas.

Zermatt offers delightful year-round skiing on one of the largest glaciers in Europe. And in keeping with its traditional image, the resort has preserved working mountain trains to whisk skiers up certain pistes. These make for truly memorable lift rides and breath-taking views. The resort links with Cervinia just over the Italian border, and skiing between the two is via a breath-taking high ridge. Apres ski in resort is wonderfully varied, with a vast choice of chic and cheerful pubs and clubs.
